Congratulations to Vantage manufacturer - Intext Architectural Systems (www.intext.co.nz) who took home two awards at the recent WANZ 2010 Design Flair Awards for the Birkenhead Library. Winner of the the Commercial $100,000 + category and the overall Supreme Award Winner of the 2010 Design Flair Awards.

The Birkenhead Library was designed by Auckland company, the Architecture Office, for the North Shore City Council. The window systems used included the 40mm window suite, 100mm Flushglaze system, overhead glazing profiles, Magnum doors, glazing channel and frameless entry doors. The competition judge, Auckland architect John Sutherland, formerly a partner at Jasmax and adjunct professor of architecture at one of Auckland’s architecture schools, highlighted the significant degree of difficulty that Intext had to surmount in planning and manufacturing most of the windows. “To do the job Intext dug deep into its box of parts and came up trumps,” said Sutherland. “Birkenhead has a civic building of which it can be proud and Intext helped to deliver it.”

This is the third year in a row that a Vantage™ manufacturer has won the Supreme Award. In 2008 and 2009 Wight Aluminium, of Wanganui, won the top prize for commercial buildings in Auckland and Wellington.
